STRATEGIES Collaborates with Sustainable Games Alliance

STRATEGIES is deepening its collaboration with the Sustainable Games Alliance (SGA) to support the development of a credible and effective industry standard for environmental responsibility in games production.

Since the start of this year, the STRATEGIES team has been holding fortnightly meetings with SGA representatives. These regular touchpoints have created a vital feedback loop: the SGA provides insight into real-world industry developments and challenges, while our WP3 researchers offer expert input on the carbon accounting and public standards that underpin our sustainability research.

This partnership is not just theoretical. When a component of the SGA Standard nears completion, the latest draft is handed over to our WP3 experts for careful review and evaluation. Their focus is to ensure the SGA Standard is not only technically robust, but also aligned with the expectations of civil society and the demands of credible sustainability frameworks.

Currently, our team is reviewing the Scope 3.11 mobile data input sheet, a tool designed to help account for emissions associated with data transmission and mobile device use. This kind of close, iterative collaboration ensures that the final SGA Standard is both scientifically rigorous and practically applicable.

We’re proud to be contributing to this important step forward for sustainability in the games industry, and to be supporting SGA and its partners in creating a more accountable, transparent future for game development.
