On July 4, 2025, Joost Raessens participated in the Symposium on Innovative Technologies in Research and Education at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The symposium was organized on the occasion of the retirement of Prof. Jeroen Jansz.

In his presentation, The Transformative Power of Green VR, Raessens discussed the persuasive potential of VR installations such as Plastisapiens, Symbiosis, SpaceBuzz, and Tree. He showed how these installations can strengthen and/or transform the basic dimensions of our experience and our ‘ecological identity’ (knowing, feeling, imagination, and action): how we understand the climate crisis, the emotions it evokes, the alternatives to current ecocidal practices, and the need for both small individual and collective actions.
