The Games & Game Studies Beyond Postmodernism International conference Our conference foregrounds the role of games and game studies in ongoing debates about contemporary culture’s transition beyond postmodernism. Over the course of two days, researchers and practitioners from various academic and creative fields will explore the emerging field of post-postmodern games and discuss how the presently dominant cultural sensibility structures the ways in which games (both digital and non-digital) are created, played, and analysed.
The keynote speaker is STRATEGIES very own, Professor Sonia Fizek, who will be delivering an address: “Caught between Distant and Planetary Play." In this keynote address, Sonia will bridge her past work on automation of play with the most recent project on European game developers and their position within the nature-culture ecosystem. The second part of this talk is based on the research Ruth Dorothea Eggel and Sonia are conducting within the framework of the project Strategies Horizon.
